Brooklyn Park Library

Brooklyn Park, MN

The Brooklyn Park Library was built to better meet the increasing needs of a growing and diverse community. The design creates a new civic cornerstone on a former agricultural field and meets the State of Minnesota Sustainable Buildings B3 guidelines. STEAM installations engage patrons throughout the site including sandblasted paving graphics that track seasonal sun patterns cast through entrance canopy openings on solstice and equinox dates; Mounded earth forms and engraved benchmarks on stone walls interpret the theme of topographical elevation; A sculptural stone display and interpretive signage highlights the geological history of the slate stone used on the exterior of the building and site walls.
