The Landscape Arboretum Circulation and Development Master Plan is the result of 18 months of in-depth analysis, collaboration, and strategic visioning. This planning process actively engaged the arboretum community—both locally and beyond—through committee discussions, staff interviews, and board input. Designed as a flexible roadmap for future development, the plan adapts to evolving needs and funding opportunities. It outlines the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s goals, contrasting its current landscape with a bold vision for the future. Key focus areas include enhancing major gateways, improving accessibility and circulation, identifying new development opportunities, and strengthening connections with the surrounding community.
The plan also envisions upgraded green spaces, modernized facilities, expanded parking, and cohesive landscape improvements to create a more accessible and visually unified environment. It prioritizes high-impact projects that can be implemented in the near future as funding allows. Additionally, the document reaffirms the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s commitment to sustainability and responsible growth, ensuring future developments align with environmental stewardship and community engagement.
