Barn Bluff

Red Wing, MN

Created as a supplement to the Barn Bluff Cultural Landscape Report, the Barn Bluff Landscape Guidelines document provides recommendations for maintenance and the development of visitor amenities within this historic resource. A beloved natural resource, the bluff is a popular destination for locals and visitors and enjoys thousands of visitors in all seasons. As a result, this culturally important and fragile landscape is showing wear. A variety of options were designed for the City to manage trail and slope erosion, access in steep and difficult areas, historic concrete renovation, planting guidelines and future site amenity development. A report was made as a tool for park managers to better understand existing concerns and have solutions which will meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
