St. Paul Company LAB 280

This collaboration was an opportunity to deliver an innovative and complementary landscape for a new state of the art research and development building. The building’s primary focus is to maintain the company’s vitality of innovation and technology, and houses over 700 researchers and scientists. The entry plaza artfully organizes numerous pedestrian routes, a vehicular drop-off zone, trees, plantings, lighting, and custom site furnishings in a linear fashion. Materiality, organization, and pattern successfully combine to deliver an innovative plaza worthy of its building occupants. The patterning in the paving in relation to custom circular furnishings creates a design metaphor reminiscent of how this global corporation is connected around the world.
