We are now accepting applications to our Summer Internship program!

Application Deadline: March 17th, 2025
Internship Duration: June – August 15th 2025
Education Requirements: Applicants must be studying Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, or a related field and have at least one semester of study remaining after summer 2025.
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Together with DF Associates, Principals, and Designers, interns will participate in the firm’s promise to clients to create spaces and places that are memorable, reflect sensitivity to the environment, incorporate client goals and demonstrate design excellence and rigor.  They are expected to actively participate and seek to understand not only the tasks that push forward design, but how these actions fit into the overall process of creating memorable spaces. 
 
SUPPORT / Interns will be responsible for the efficient completion of project tasks, participating in all aspects of a project as required by the person managing the project.  Consistent communication with the project manager is critical to understanding what is expected.  Tasks include:

  • Collaboration with all design team members.

  • Understanding tasks and how much time is available to complete them.

  • Becoming familiar with multiple design representation programs including Adobe Suite, CAD, and Rhino as projects allow, using them to enhance and accomplish project work.

  • Listening to and understanding the person managing the project but also challenging them and making good ideas better.

  • Communicating with clients in a positive manner and working through project challenges with an optimistic attitude focused on resolution. 

 
PARTICIPATE / Interns will serve on firm committees that focus on sustained improvement of the firm and reflect firm values in all they do.  Tasks include:

  • Helping committees create an actionable vision for the coming year and 90 day period.

  • Contributing to firm advancement by completing tasks on time and with the necessary diligence.

  • Offering your creative ideas/questions related to strengthening firm processes and office culture.

 
LEARN / Interns will get the opportunity to learn how professional practice differs from studio work.  The techniques learned in school will serve as a foundation for additional skills required for professional practice. Tasks include:

  • Participation in the Damon Farber mentorship program aimed at improving core competencies including design process, representation, documentation, and research. 

  • Following Damon Farber standards and processes to ensure a consistent brand and efficient collaboration between team members.

  • Leaning into a diverse range of design topics and Damon Farber project types, seeking to gain a better understanding of the vast scope of landscape architecture.
