collaborative, innovative, sustainable + distinct solutions
Damon Farber Associates is founded on the principle that our collaborative approach results in innovative, sustainable and distinct solutions to challenging design situations. Damon Farber, FASLA established Damon Farber Associates in 1981 specifically to accomplish those goals by working with other design disciplines to achieve outcomes that exceeded the traditional. He earned the respect of his clients and colleagues as a leading landscape architectural professional, urban designer, mentor and teacher.
Damon Farber, FASLA
From the very onset, Damon infused the firm with an ethic based upon hard work, commitment to quality and strategic thinking. He insisted that every project be responsive to its socio-cultural, physical, environmental and economic context to reflect its unique sense of place— an approach that informs a timeless aesthetic. As one of the first landscape architectural graduates of the University of Minnesota School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture Damon remains a steadfast supporter of the College of Design and the University. He mentored undergraduates and brought promising students into the firm. They, in turn, shared his interdisciplinary approach resulting in over 65 design awards earned since the firm’s inception. Today, many of those individuals have gone on to open successful practices of their own, become leaders in public sector agencies and establish their credentials as educators of young, aspiring landscape architects.
Throughout the last three decades, Damon Farber Associates has made an indelible mark on the Midwestern landscape and we continue to evolve. Our work is grounded in a practical dimension that focuses on designing projects which are aesthetically superior, innovative and fiscally responsible. Our vibrant and dynamic office features an open workplace that reflects our dedication to working toward a common goal, facilitation of the creative process and on-going commitment to being responsive to our clients’ best interests. We honor the collaborative focus Damon encouraged in his staff and office, and will continue to expand upon that strategy which is his legacy.
